Description
The Department of Medicine's Division of Rheumatology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is seeking a visiting scholar with interest and experience in clinical research in myositis and related autoimmune diseases. This is an opportunity to join the University of Pittsburgh Myositis Center, one of the world's leading programs dedicated to advancing understanding and treatment of idiopathic inflammatory myopathies. The visiting scholar will provide operational, analytical, and scientific support for two active multi-center clinical studies: the Myositis Interstitial Lung Disease Nintedanib Trial (MINT), the ACR/EULAR revision of myositis classification criteria, and the Clinical Meaningfulness of ACR/EULAR Response Criteria in Dermatomyositis. Core responsibilities will include managing large patient datasets, ensuring compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements, coordinating patient-facing and operational study activities, and conducting advanced statistical analyses to validate novel clinical endpoints such as the Total Improvement Score (TIS).
The scholar will engage in the dissemination of findings through manuscript preparation, presentations, and collaborative interactions with multi-site investigators. They will work closely with faculty and staff across the Division and Department to sustain the University's leadership in high-impact, federally and industry-supported clinical trials.
The candidate should hold a medical degree or an advanced research degree in a related field, possess strong skills in clinical research methods and data analysis, and demonstrate prior experience with patient-oriented research or autoimmune disease studies. The visiting scholar will also participate in mentoring of trainees and contribute to the collaborative, diverse, and inclusive academic environment of the Division.
